Main Characters
Wade Owen Watts (Parzival)
Wade is the main character of the story. He is a kid living in one of the many ghettos found in metropolis' after the recession and energy crisis led to war and refuge from large cities. Just like many other people Wade is a *Gunter, but is at a huge disadvantage becuse of his lack of resources (ie. money) until he uses his great strength, knowledge of the 80's. Because of this knowledge, Wade found out that the first key was on the planet Ludus where he went to school and he was the first person to find and recieve the bronze key. He ends up winning the Easter Egg Hunt and the
OASIS.
"Gunter" is short for Egg Hunter, someone who is searching for an easter egg left by James Halliday, creator of the OASIS. The first person to find the egg will inherit Halliday's possesions including the OASIS.
Samantha Evelyn Cook (Art3mis)
Art3mis is the love interest of Parzival. She is the true first finder of the bronze key but she wasn't able to win a game of Joust to earn it until after Parzival tells her to switch sides. She is enemies with Waade at first, but creates an alliance with him aswell as Shoto and Aech. She helps Parzival beat the crystal gate.
Helen Harris (Aech)
Parzival's best friend that he met through the OASIS. But knowing Aech for five years, Parzival didn't really know that Aech was a 20-year-old African-American woman. She too was helping Parzival in finding the easter egg.
James Halliday (Anorak)
He is lead developer of the OASIS. He found that he was about to die and spent that last of his time creating an easter egg for his game. But, this easter egg was different, this was for over $80 billion. The main goal of this egg was so he coulld almost force there to be more people who shared all of his interests, which were from his nostalgic time as a teenager in the 80's.
Nolan Sorrento
Nolan is the head of Innovative Online Industries he is leading a group of "Sixers" in order to find the easter egg and make the OASIS the sole property of Innovative Online Industries, because of this he is one of the most hated people in the world since the OASIS would just turn into an expensice, ad-filled business that people can't escape to anymore.
